Rewrite delivers an annual intensive summer holiday project, which brings together participants from our core groups, introducing them to new performance mediums and culminating in a public sharing event. The project is also open to any local young people aged 11 to 18 years old who want to develop their theatre skills, make new friends and get the opportunity to perform.
Between 2011 and 2013 the project was delivered in partnership with the Roundhouse and gave participants the opportunity to devise, script and record an original radio drama. In 2014 we partnered with Emergency Exit Arts on their Street Arts programme, culminating in a performance as part of the Elephant and the Nun Festival in Burgess Park. Last year, in 2015 we partnered with the London School of Samba to make masks and explore a carnival theme, rounding off with performances at the Horniman Museum and the Ele and Nun Festival. This summer our React Drama Company performed ‘Looking in’ at Ovalhouse Theatre.
“I just listened to the piece on the Roundhouse website. I feel like crying! It was soooo good! Thank you for letting me take part I really enjoyed it!”
